Horses waiting to take us around the rim of the Sierra Negra volcanic crater

Skirting the Sierra Negra crater (2nd largest active crater in the world) on horseback... I am suffering from a sunburnt bum from snorkelling the day before, so my first time on horseback for many years is not an entirely great experience, but the view is incredible, so its all worthwhile!

Cactus and arid almost martian looking landscape on the hike to Volcan Chico crater

Lava tunnel snaking its way through the landscape... also reminds me of that cheesy horror movie where the are giant monster worms attacking people... is it Tremors?

Me & my horse, Moro! We built up a solid understanding; that he would take whichever path he wanted despite my protestations and signalling for him to go a different direction. In exchange for this he would not lie down and roll in the dust (as the horse behind me did, much to the annoyance of the woman riding him).
